Economic Importance  of Cockroach

1.    The cockroach is among the most cosmopolitan of all pests and insects. This means that they are commonly known worldwide.
2.    They are often seen and inhabit human homes. They will most likely be seen hiding in small, dark places.
3.    They prefer coming out only at night to scour and gorge themselves on food and water.
4.    Though they do not sting or bite, they transport human pathogens, which are agents that spread disease, because of the unsanitary conditions that they live in.
5.    Cockroach becomes a public health problem because of their association with human waste and disease, and their ability to move from the sewers into homes and commercial establishments.
6.    At least 22 species of the pathogenic human bacteria, virus, and protozoans, as well as five species of helminthic worm, have been isolated from the field collecting American cockroaches.
7.    They destroys fine articles.
8.    They feeds upon organic materials includes papers, lather, food stuff, etc and cause permanent damage.
9.    They are mainly found in caves, mines, latrines, cesspools, sewers, sewerage treatment plants, and dumps. Their presence in these habits is of epidemiological significance.
10.                    Cockroaches are important in our society because they can be used as tools for the research of insect physiology and toxicology.
